American Rivers is a national organization in the United States that advocates for healthy rivers. Through national advocacy, innovative solutions, and a network of strategic partners, they help protect and promote rivers as valuable assets.
Founded in 1973, American Rivers has more than 65,000 members and supporters nationwide, with offices in Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, California, and Northwest regions.
Each year since 1986, American Rivers has released the America’s Most Endangered Rivers report to spotlight those rivers across the country facing critical and near-term threats. The report is not a list of the nation’s worst or most polluted rivers, but rather it highlights ten rivers confronted by decisions in the coming year that could determine their future.
