Carbon Neutral
From Green Wiki
To solve the problem of climate change, all people need to take account of our personal carbon emissions and make continued efforts to reduce them wherever possible. But it is impossible to reduce our carbon emissions to zero, no matter how hard we try. People often think that carbon neutral means that something or someone does not contribute to any release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. To some extent this thought is true, but it represents a to narrow perspective. It is possible to purchase consumer products, drive a fuel cell car and travel by plane and still be carbon neutral. The solution to carbon neutrality is that your contributions is balanced by a carbon reduction elsewhere.

[edit] Carbon Neutrality
The concept of being carbon neutral refers to a situation where individuals, families, enterprises etc. from a total perspective release zero carbon emissions. In our society carbon carbon neutrality would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to achieve. Therefore carbon neutrality is most often viewed from a total perspective, which involves balancing the amount of carbon released with the amount of carbon offset.
[edit] How to reach reduce your carbon footprint
- Switch from fossil fuels which contributes to the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere with renewable energy sources, such as wind power, solar power etc. As an alternative, individuals, families, businesses etc. can purchase carbon offsets which can be seen as a financial instrument, where some pay others to reduce their emissions equivalently. In fact, carbon offsets is a common way to reduce the carbon footprint. Carbon offsets can be reached paying organizations by funding environmental projects which will contribute to reduce the aggregated level of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. Another method can be found through purchase of carbon credits. This credit can then be removed from the market. Carbon offsets can also be extended to include other greenhouse gases through carbon dioxide equivalents measured in terms of their isolated warming effects.
