Nuclear Power

From Green Wiki

Nuclear Power is a process designed to generate usable energy via controlled nuclear reactions. Because of that, Nuclear Power generates only steam, and no harmful emissions. This is a green alternative to Coal and Natural Gas power sources. However, Nuclear Power also carries risks of radiation and production of toxic elements; the chances of disaster are minimal but severe should it ever occur. With the usage of newer materials and procedures in Nuclear Power plants in the western regions and spreading to the rest of the world, the chance of a disaster is virtually none.

[edit] Waste Materials

The Waste Materials from Nuclear Power Plants are sitting on site at the plants across the country. Due to political issues, the development of the Yucca Mountain project has stalled, causing this to happen. Yucca Mountain is meant to store the Waste Materials deep underground below a mountain in a desert. This method has already worked well in Sweden, where their waste material storage areas produce many stable jobs for the community as well as a viable method for disposal of the waste materials.
