Features
Edit
Solar calculators utilize liquid crystal displays as they are power efficient and capable of operating in the low voltage range of 1.5 - 2 V. Features on other models includes a light pipe used to converge light onto the solar cells to power the calculator.[3]
Advantages
Edit
- Solar-powered calculators would be advantageous over conventional battery operated electronic calculator as the battery replacement need not be considered.[4]
Drawbacks
Edit
- Solar calculators may not work well in indoor conditions under ambient lighting as sufficient lighting is not available.[5][6][7]
