Hi, this is a great effort and I'm glad I ran into it! I'd like to see some links or explanations for the claims made here. For example the suggestion to use a wired mouse over wireless has no explanation behind it. If rechargeable batteries are used one could argue that the chord is actually worse for the environment than the rechargeable batteries. I'm not saying it is but that thought did enter my mind. I might add some explanation or links to these suggestions so I hope no one gets offended :-) I would also argue that laptops are generally not upgradeable and not often recyclable so they are not necessarily a better option than a desktop. Im not sure where i got the wireless mouse bit from. Sorry i haven't listed references some of them are in the links section.
I agree with your suggestion that if you use rechargeable battery's wireless mice may not be so bad but the wireless sender receiver on the PC end cant be battery powered can they? (i haven't really used wireless my self)
Laptops can be upgraded to a limited extent. My Zepto notebook allows me (with out voiding my warranty) to upgrade the ram, hard drive, CD drive and battery although i guess that is it. Laptops can be recycled about as easily as desktops cant they? or passed on to others as second hand laptops. Wonx2150 02:07, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Wireless mouse Edit

If just look at energy consumption the difference is probably negligible but considering that batteries (rechargeable and disposable) are unnecessary you could argue that you shouldn't use them on the grounds of reduce first then reuse and recycle

What do you do when your IT dept. says to leave your PC on 24/7 so that updates, etc. can be done overnight? Edit

This question was in the article i moved it here as i felt it wasn't really appropriately placed in the article. I personally have no idea what you should do, apart from turn off speakers (or unplug headphones) and switch off the screen. I cant really suggest anything else as Ive never worked in an office.
