Why doesn't anyone say about leaves-like systems to create ATP from the sunlight using a photosynthesis??

This is theoretically possible, why doesn't anyone research this area?

You can check out the forum www.onebiosphere.com to review the history of solar power in the U.S. The environmental groups did not bring their own Proposition to the table. When and if large scale solar plants are created in the desert, the energy transmission grid needs to be updated because the antiquated transmission system holds back the release of maximum solar energy. Substantial improvement in energy transmission is required to take full advantage of the new solar installations.
